Then we found that there wasn’t much left, so we had to keep cutting

If your roof has small blisters like this you are in trouble. They are the tip of the iceberg…

… but hardly any inside protection from the factory. It is heavily affected by condensation, especially if the car is kept outside

Cleaned up and with the bottom section near the hatch going in place

We prime inside before we weld up the holes. Obviously it is not possible to stop the welder burning the paint off, but we apply cavity wax afterwards to prevent rust

The area is all cleaned up and derusted, because there’s not a lot of point in doing it and letting the rust come back
